Did you know #BrainvsAI was trending on Twitter after a clever bot in the USA won a Poker game for the first time?
So what is AI (Artificial Intelligence)?
We have all heard of some form of AI, from reactive robots to self-aware beings. A well-known example being Amazon’s echo speaker which uses Alexa, the artificial intelligent assistant. If you own a smartphone chances are you’ve engaged with Siri, the personal assistant built into your smartphone, or an AI chatbot via a customer support chatbox or a messenger platform.
Digital marketing will shift up a gear, driven by the new age of AI and machine learning and the expectation that by 2020, most people will have access to the internet. AI will play an important part in this by harnessing collected information from across the world for marketers to use.
By integrating AI into your digital marketing strategy, you can improve engagement with your targeted audience, collect and analyse customer insights faster and more accurately, plot customer activity, purchase patterns, analyse habits and more importantly use predictive analytics which humans cannot spot.
Why use Chatbots?
User experience makes AI chatbots essential for this, as innovative technology can take existing data and further improve on it. Analytics can look at a customer’s behaviour and influence decision-making, whereas AI can get previously unattainable information to give a much fuller picture and find out exactly what the customer likes, dislikes and tailor output accordingly. Chatbot can also work 24/7, redefining the user experience when it comes to customer service, boosting satisfaction and importantly creating brand loyalty, whilst offering the personal touch expected by customers, an example of this is Lufthansa’s Mildred chatbot, created for Facebook messenger platform and launched by the airline to assist passengers in searching for the cheapest flights within a defined time.
Gartner predicts that by 2020, customers will manage 85% of their relationship with a company without interacting with a single human, making chatbots the new customer care teams and replacing live chat and other forms of communication methods such as phone calls and emails.
